There's Something About Muslims

In his book, God is Not One a former religion professor of mine ranked religions by their "importance" on the world stage. Interestingly (and provocatively), he started with Islam. Not too long ago, I was looking at a data set that looked at international differences in well-being.

In it, I found a pretty fascinating stat that showed the importance of God to folks in predominantly Muslim countries. Given the link between fervency of belief and propensity to take action, maybe the professor's rankings weren't so off after all.

Percentage of people in each country that picked 10 out of 10 in agreement with the statement: "God is very important in my life."
