The Final Words of Hermes Trismegistus

Hermes Trismegistus was perhaps one of the most enlightened souls to ever walk the earth. His deep wisdom and intimate experience with a divine force he called "the mind of the universe" or Atum lead him to write profusely on philosophy and religion. The documents that remain are called the Corpus Hermetica. To read more about his most famous writing, The Emerald Tablet, click here.

Below are his final words, which are absolutely stunning:

"Wise words,
although written
by my decaying hand,
remain imperishable
through time;
Imbued with the medicine
of immortality
by the Master of All.
Be unseen
and undiscovered
by all those
who will come and go,
wandering
the wastelands of life.
Be hidden,
until an older heaven
births human beings
who are worthy
of your wisdom."

Having sounded this prayer
over the works of his hands,
Hermes was received
in the sanctuary of eternity.
